We are so sorry to hear your bike is missing.

Between our 529 network, 100s of law enforcement agencies, and your friends, you have a whole posse on the look out for your bike.

Here's what to do next:

We noticed that you haven't added a case number yet for your police report.

If you haven't filed an official police report yet, we highly recommend doing so now. Law enforcement often finds whole warehouses and garages full of stolen bikes, and yours might end up among them. Don't let your bike go to auction... file a police report now, and be sure to record the officer you spoke with's contact information and case number with your incident report.

Let everyone know Your bike now has it's own missing bike page. This is the page that people will see when they search for your bike. You can also share this link to help spread the word.

Your missing bike page:

Add more details
  • You can update your bike's registration data and your bike's alert, even after you've reported it missing, so if you just remembered a critical piece of information, add it now.
  • The more details you can add to your missing bike report, the better. Think about how you would describe your bike if you asked your friend to grab it from a rack of bikes, and be sure to add that to your report.
  • Have more photos you can add? It's not too late to add them. You can upload them from our app or from our website.
  • Add descriptions to your "Look For" photos, and they will appear on your poster and missing bike page.

Keep your eyes on Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace, Kijiji, OfferUp, and eBay
  • Create an RSS feed that you can monitor online marketplaces without having to rebuild your search each time.
  • Don't be overly specific in your search. Color, manufacturer and number of gears (for example, 21 speed) are the best search terms to use since they will return more results. You'll have to search through more bikes that way, but at least you won't miss yours if it is there.
  • If your bike has highly specialized components, search for those as well. They unfortunately might have been removed from the bike, but if you find them, it might help law enforcement track down the thief.
  • Be sure to checkout cities near you as well, particularly if it's been more than a day since your bike was stolen. Bike thieves often fence their goods in the next town over.
  • If you do find your bike listed, be sure to call local law enforcement to help you recover it. We do not recommend confronting the thief.
  • Keep looking! Often, bikes don't show up online for 30 days or more.

Put up posters
  • Print lots of posters with our quick automated templates. They even have tear-offs for your contact info.
  • Posters look best with photos and plenty of details and listing anything that set your bike apart from similar bikes.
Don't buy it back from the thief!
  • Don't fall for this scam. Often, thieves will contact the owner of the bike, posing as a good samaritan who happened to buy the bike from the thief and became suspicious. If you suspect this may be the case, be sure to contact the authorities. They should be able to help you get the bike back at no charge from the seller.
Have other bikes? Be sure to register them if you haven't already!
